Church views on euthanasia in the Czech Republic

This Master's thesis named "Approaches of Czech Churches towards Euthanasia" studies the topic of euthanasia through position papers of four selected churches active in the Czech Republic. The four examined churches are Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, and Czechoslovak Hussite Church whereas documents published by ecumenical panels are studied as well. The goal of the thesis is to create a statement overview of these four churches. First, the work introduces the topic itself, explains basic terms and development of different approaches. Second, it analyses position papers of examined churches which are subsequently compared in order to find the aspects which are common to the all four churches.

The Second Liturgy of Czechoslovak Hussite Church

Presented work has in its first part tried to evaluate both textual and theological development of the liturgy in the Czechoslovak (Hussite) church. It has focused on Farsky's translation of the Roman Mass from 1919, first liturgical reforms of the young church, liturgical diversification and unifiction in newly conceived liturgy by Karel Farsky in 1923. The work further follows development of such liturgy, especially its revision in 1939 and attempts of liturgical renewal in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The final conclusion of the thesis resides in stating that revision was crucial for blurring certain parts of Farsky's liturgy. It was not conciliated with Učení, official doctrinal document of the Church, and also didn't stay in line with its origin. The main part of the work is focused on analysis of singular parts of Second Liturgy s it was adopted by Assembly in 1991. We attempt to compare this liturgy with earlier versions as mentioned above. This thesis particularly states, that recent version of the Second Liturgy presents two parts of the liturgy of the Word,when the first reading is sharply distinguished from the rest. Celebrating the Hussite Triennium as an example of church public communication

This work is concerned with church communication in the Czech Republic, focusing on the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. Using case study, it looks at it as the church is organization with its own corporate communication and examines a concrete campaign ‚the Hus Fest 2015' from the marketing perspective. The aim of the text is to find the specifics of church communication of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and to come up with new recomendations. These are summed up at the end in ten key points. The text proceeds from a very general part about communication to differences in public sector communication trought church communication to end with the specifics of The C. H. church communication. The writing was formed during the process of developing the campaign of Hus Fest. Besides the author's experience, it draws particulary from the schemes of Cornellisen's Corporate Communiaction and Kotler's Marketing in the Public Sector.

10 Abstract The Development of Funeral Practices in the Context of the Evolution of Ideological framework of the Czechoslovak (Hussite) Church. Author: Mgr. Richard Ferčík Our work resulted in finding that since the very beginning of its existence, the Czechoslovak (Hussite) Church approached the question of funeral rituals as a practical, pastoral question, not academic and theoretical. The Czechoslovak Church became a pioneer and promoter of cremation and operator of the most extensive network of columbaries in Czechoslovakia. The major moment of Czechoslovak (Hussite) Church particulars was the shift from the mechanical-magical concept of funeral in popular Catholicism, by which it tried to confront with a purified and understandable ritual based on the gospel and the desire to enculturate the gospel and translate it into a "live" language. Judging by the theological view of death and funeral, the basis from which it stemmed is quite clear - catholic modernism and liberal democratic thinking. In the first generation of Czechoslovak (Hussite) Church theologians we could observe significant "scholastic" fundament. Prague Hussite Churches from the Thirties of the 20th Century

This bachelor thesis deals with the theme of Prague Hussite churches from thirties of the 20th century. The first part of this thesis is devoted to a history and basic ideas of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church necessary for overall understanding of this topic. Afterwards the author tries to characterize a general approach to a liturgical space and describe the issue of erecting buildings of this new church during the interwar period. The main part of this thesis is closely concerned with four Prague Hussite churches which were built in the thirties. Chapters of this core part are dedicated to the Hussite churches in Vršovice, Vinohrady, Smíchov and Holešovice.

The influence of Karel Statečný's ethics on Alois Spisar's ethics and on development of ethics in the czechoslovak church

The bachelor thesis tries to evaluate so far not published fragment of Karel Statečný's ethics, which was prepared under the title Introduction to Ethics and Natural Law (ca. 1921-1924), and compare it with Ethics in Spirit of the Czechoslovak Church (1948) by Alois Spisar. The comparison of both works confirms the influence of ethical reflection of Karel Statečný on the further development of ethics in the Czechoslovak Church. The bachelor thesis brings enough arguments to demonstrate that Alois Spisar was familiar with the ethical conception of Karel Statečný, although his work and his person in his book are never mentioned. The most resemblances can be found in the layout of the ethical themes and in the chapters that deal with the sources of morality and relations of ethics to other disciplines.

The Czechoslovak Hussite religious community in Prague's Vinohrady in years 1920-1950

The submitted thesis deals with the history of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, focusing on a detailed analysis of one of its most significant religious community in the Vinohrady district of Prague, from its beginnings in 1920 up to 1950. It spans the first thirty years of its existence within the wider historical context . As all sorts of momentous, sometimes even breakthrough events, assisted to birth a new church, it was necessary to state these events together with the preconditions of its birth. Therefore the volume of the thesis has been extended and more general information from the time preceding the birth of a new church has been included. One individual chapter has been dedicated to the construction of the church building in Prague, the Vinohrady district as I consider that it deserves our adequate attention.

Summary: Srovnání základních věroučných dokumentů CČSH a ČCE The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents CČSH and ČCE Michal Vejvoda The Comparison of the basic doctrinal Documents in their broader context has lead into surprising discovery of their similarity, though with more or less important differences. Especially the doctrine of faith (rules of faith), by which ČCE (Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren ) finds their source by interpretation of the Word of God while inspired be the Holy Spirit and for CČSH (Czechoslovak Hussite Church) it is the Spirit of Christ. With a closer look at it you will find a similar concept of this rule. Another difference is a concept and approach towards the church itself, CČSH talks about God's Church as a visible, tangible human fellowship, whereas ČCE talks about an invisible God's Church, operating within concrete fellowship. Another difference, this time practical one, is a number of celebrated, (served) sacraments; nonetheless this difference is suppressed by its similarity and the approach towards them. Within CČSH is more obvious the emphasis on a church as an institution, in the Basics ČCE on their function within an environment of current world. Adult Catechetics in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church as an Open Path of God's Word towards Modern Society

RESUMÉ The purpose of this thesis was to outline the current state of catechesis in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and basic regularities of the andragogic discipline as the science of adult education. We put these findings in the context of adult life, which is based in the postmodern era and secularized society. The first chapter dealt with the specifics of contemporary life and the needs of the post-modern man living in a secularized world. In the second chapter we entered the path of God's Word. We interpret the Word of God in the theology of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and pointed out the personal / personalistics dimension of the relationship between man and God In the third chapter, we introduce catechesis as a theological discipline. We captured its mission and emphasis from theoretical and practical point of view, and we have followed with the fourth chapter and the specific concept of catechesis in the Czechoslovak Hussite Church.
